# Player Capabilities

Authorized video-player responses provide temporary playback access for supported records.

## Streaming and Quality

- Adaptive playback where available
- Quality selection based on the source and client conditions
- Resolution and frame rate depend on the authorized record

## Subtitles and Transcripts

English or native-language subtitles and time-synchronized transcript support may be available for a record. Clients should inspect the returned record rather than assume that every media item includes them.

## Security

- Playback access is authorization-bound.
- Player URLs may expire.
- Request a fresh URL when needed.
- Do not persist, publish, or redistribute temporary media URLs.

## Compatibility

Use a modern browser or media client that supports the format returned by the player endpoint.
